  • Japanese Release Date: ???
  • Genre: Action, Adventure

  • Sonic's Adventure

Being the namesake of the game, Sonic has the biggest adventure. His trip through the game takes him to nearly every Action Stage and Adventure Field. Sonic gets three different power-ups in the game which are the Light Speed Shoes, the Light Speed Bracelet, and the Ancient Light. He also fights four different forms of Chaos as well as Eggman twice.

    Sonics Action Stages are:

    • Emerald Coast
    • Windy Valley
    • Casinopolis
    • Ice Cap
    • Twinkle Park
    • Speed Highway
    • Red Mountain
    • Sky Deck
    • Lost World
    • Final Egg

At the beginning of Sonics trip through the game, you will have to battle with the very first boss, Chaos 0. Simply do three Homing Attacks when he is in the complete humanoid form, and he will be defeated.

    Emerald Coast

Once the first battle is over, Sonic will be relaxing near a pool. When you have control of him, walk to the beach to enter Emerald Coast.

    Emerald Coast Objectives:

C: Reach Tails at the end of the course.

For the C emblem, simply run along the level toward the goal. This is a good level to get used to the basic mechanics of the game.

B: Collect 50 rings and destroy the capsule.

Again, this is simple. There are plenty of rings in this level (as well as all the other levels), so just try not to get hit and you will finish perfectly.

A: Reach, and destroy, the capsule in under 2:00.

This is the first of the Time Trial objectives, and it can be a little tough. That is why for all the A emblems there is the following shortcut advice:

    Emerald Coast Shortcuts:

Throughout the level use the "tap the spin dash button quickly" technique to give you a little extra speed. At the bridge, dont take the springs, but rather as you are running up the ramp you can reach the top left portion of the bridge with a well-timed jump.

With the loops in the level, it is possible to jump through them, but it is not crucial to do so in order to reach the capsule in enough time. Even by running through the loops it is still possible to finish the level in about 1:30.

After the lighthouse, be sure to hug the left wall and hit the small tunnel shortcut. That is crucial to finish the level quickly.

Finally, after the large loop where you are launched across to a hill, you can skip a large portion of the level by Spin Dashing up the hill, then holding right at the top to land on the distant beach.

    Windy Valley

After Emerald Coast take the train to Mystic Ruin. Run up the stairs to the hill where you will fight the second boss, Egg Hornet. When you teach Eggman his first lesson of the game, run up the next set of stairs to find a green key near Tails workshop. Take that key down to the small alcove in the right wall where there is a platform with a green icon on it. By placing the key there, you will gain access to Windy Valley.

    Windy Valley Objectives:

C: Get to the chaos emerald at the end of the course.

B: Reach the goal with at least 50 rings.

A: Reach, and destroy, the capsule in less than 2:30.

    Windy Valley Shortcuts:

In the first part of the level, you will find floating propellers right near the start point. You can use your Homing Attack to speed across those. Speed your way to the bridge before the power up, but jump off the bridge and into the tornado.

After you clear the inside of the tornado, youll be at the final part of the level. Here, whenever you are launched into the air, you will want to try to land on the walkway that is down the farthest. If you do so, you should have no trouble beating the time limit.

    Casinopolis

After Windy Valley return to Station Square. Go find the manhole, and dive in. Down in the sewers, Sonic will find his first item, the Light Speed Shoes. Use the trail of rings to get out, then head to the area near the casino. Stand on the switch then use your new ability to launch yourself along the coins to hit the switch that will open up the entrance to Casinopolis.

    Casinopolis Objectives:

    C: Reach the Chaos Emerald.

This objective shows you, in a way, how you will need to complete the next two objectives. In order to get the emerald, you need to get 400 rings, then step on the button in the coin room so the mechanical arms will come down and shake the rings out of you to create a mountain that you can use to get the emerald.

To get 400 rings, you can either play the two different pinball games, or loose purposely to get into the sewers and collect rings.

The best way is just to stick to one pinball game (NiGHTS is my personal favorite), and keep playing until you get enough rings. This is also a good way to rack up those extra lives, since you get one per every 100 rings you collect.

B: Collect the right amount of rings and destroy the capsule.

This one is very easy due to the sheer amount of rings that you are able to collect in this level.

A: Destroy the capsule within five minutes.

    Casinopolis Shortcut

There really is only one real shortcut in Casinopolis, and that is to use the sewers and Light Speed Dash at both the beginning and end, as well as using the pinball machines.

    Ice Cap

After Casinopolis, you will find the blue Ice Key which you will need to take back to Mystic Ruins. When you get there, a cave will be revealed. Take the key inside, then place it on the pedestal in front of the ice wall to gain access to Ice Cap.

    Ice Cap Objectives:

    C: Reach the Chaos Emerald.

B: Collect 50 rings and destroy the capsule.

A: Destroy the capsule within 3:30.

    Ice Cap Shortcuts:

Toward the beginning of the level, you can find some jump pads that will speed you on your way, which is the most important shortcut in the level. Then once you are inside, use the springs to skip past the first stalagmites. If you dont, climbing the stalagmites can seriously hurt your time. The second row, you will have to climb on, so just go as fast as possible.

While snowboarding, always hit the yellow ramps, they work better than the boost pads.

    Twinkle Park

When you exit Ice Cap, return to the grassy hill in Mystic Ruins to fight Knuckles. When that is over, Eggman will appear and you will have to do battle with a new form of Chaos. You will fight Chaos 4 on a lake where you will be able to stand on lily pads. Use the same tactic, as before, except this time you will have to hit him more times.

When he is defeated, Eggman will retreat to the Egg Carrier, and of course Sonic and Tails decide to chase after him. Run to Tails workshop to begin the first sub-stage, Sky Chase Act 1. Simply maneuver your plane, and shoot down as many enemies as possible and you will complete the stage.

After the Tornado crashes, run to the Casino area where Sonic will run into Amy. After the short cut scene, go to the area in front of the train station where Amy will be waiting for you in front of the Twinkle Park elevator.

    Twinkle Park Objectives:

    C: Reach the goal.

B: Collect 50 coins and destroy the capsule.

A: Reach, and destroy, the capsule in less than 3:00.

    Twinkle Park Shortcuts:

At the start, you do not have to destroy all the enemies here, just take out one of them and take his bumper car. During the racing portion of this level, be sure to hit every single booster while avoiding the enemies as well as steering around the small ramps, as they will slow you down.

After the racing portion you can get a major shortcut by holding right or left when you launch out of the roller coaster. Walk back towards the track and drop down to a floating platform. Jump from there to the large pool area. Then use a Homing Attack on the springs to launch you on top of the walkway above. From there you are very close to the end.

    Speed Highway

After Twinkle Park, and ID card will appear in the distance. Pick it up and take it to the large metal door right next to the Twinkle Park entrance to gain access to Speed Highway.

    Speed Highway Objectives:

    C: Reach the goal.

B: Collect 50 rings and destroy the capsule.

A: Destroy the capsule within 2:30.

    Speed Highway Shortcuts

At the beginning of the level, right as you start to go down the slope, jump off to the right to skip a large chunk of the early level. Later, when you run along the side of a building, stay near the top and you will come to a long path to knock even more time off your clock.

Later in the level, be sure to use the speed shoes while running down the building and also in the city area to speed your way to the end.

    Red Mountain

After Speed Highway, go to the Casino area where you will see Amy being carried away by a robot. Jump into the train to Mystic Ruins, then go into the tunnel where you were able to access Ice Cap. Run past that entrance, and head into the large clearing. On a rock in the distance you will be able to receive the Light Speed Attack upgrade, which will allow you access to Red Mountain. Dash, and destroy the evil little monkey in the cage to reveal the entrance to Red Mountain.

    Red Mountain Objectives:

    C: Destroy the capsule.

B: Collect 50 rings and destroy the capsule.

A: Destroy the capsule within 3:00.

    Red Mountain Shortcuts:

The shortcuts here are pretty straightforward. After the first rocket, there are springs to the right, which will speed you along. There are some jump pads in this level, but to reach them, you need to use the Homing Attack on the flying enemies to reach them.

    Sky Deck

Immediately following your destruction of the capsule in Red Mountain, you will proceed to Sky Chase Act 2. This mini-game is almost exactly the same as the first, except it is longer and you will have a short boss fight at the end. To defeat it, fire at the center of the cannon when the doors open. Move all the way to the sides of the screen when it fires.

After that, you will be on the third Adventure field, Egg Carrier. This is where Sky Deck is accessed.

    Sky Deck Objectives:

    C: Destroy the capsule.

B: Destroy the capsule with at least 50 rings.

A: Destroy the capsule within five minutes.

    Sky Deck Shortcuts:

Its actually possible to beat the timer by a very large margin. Once you get to the first silver pillar that you can climb up, turn around and Homing Attack the enemies. From there jump across the quickly spinning platforms, then continue to the next check point. There, are more enemies to attack, and then use the hook on that platform to swing to a rocket. From there you will see an area where you can either take the springs, or follow the path to the right. Follow the right path to bypass a very large section of the level.

One thing to remember with the giant pillars in this level is that you do not need to climb the ladders in order to get to the top. Quick jumps can do the trick.

In the final part of the level, you can jump down from the overhead walkways to the final part of the level if you guide your jump.

    Lost World

After Sky Deck, you will fight E-102 Gamma after which he will then be playable. Then, you will need to fight Chaos 6. A good way to defeat him is to look for the egg-like objects floating. If you hit one of those, and he swallows it while it is on the ground, he will become frozen. When he is frozen you can damage him. Repeat that pattern to win.

When you complete the battle, Sonic will be in a new section of Mystic Ruins. Run into the snakes mouth on the pyramid to enter Lost World.

    Lost World Objectives:

C: Reach the large carving in the center of the pyramid.

B: Collect 50 rings as usual.

A: Reach the goal in less than 4:30.

    Lost World Shortcuts:

The time trial here can be one of the hardest in the game, as the only real shortcut is toward the end of the level. Spin dash through the majority of the level, and dont light the mirrors in the mirror room. Then in the final area, hit the switch twice, climb up to the spike platform then haul tail to the end of the level.

    Final Egg

When you complete Lost World head to the area with the spotlights, and enter the door. Once you are inside, step on the lights in front of the closed door to access the last level, Final Egg.

    Final Egg Objectives:

C: Reach the giant Eggman Face carving in the middle of the ship.

B: Destroy the capsule with at least 50 rings.

A: Destroy the capsule in 4:30.

    Final Egg Shortcuts:

As with Lost World, there really arent too many shortcuts in Final Egg. Spin Dashing works very well here, and in the beginning of the level you can use the edges of the walkway to avoid the laser generators.

When you finish Final Egg, you will be at Sonics final battle with Eggman. Egg Viper follows a very easy to read pattern. When he pops his head out of the ship, Homing Attack him, and then dodge his lasers. Soon he will start to destroy the platforms that you are standing on. When he pops up, jump on one of the spinning discs, ride it near him, then Homing Attack. Once you knock off all his life he will try one final attack. He will dive down then fly up and destroy whatever platform you are standing on. Be sure to move to another one before he takes out yours.

    Sonics Moves:

Homing Attack: If you press A to jump and then A in mid-air, Sonic will dash into, and destroy the closest enemy. This technique is also useful when making long jumps.

Spin Dash: By pressing and holding X (or B), Sonic will roll into a ball and then dash in a direction when the button is release. If you quickly tap X (or B) while running, you can gain a few extra seconds of speed, which is helpful in the time trails.

    Moves using the Special Items:

Light Speed Dash: When you locate the Light Speed Shoes (found in the sewers of Station Square), you will be able to perform this move. Charge up as if you were doing a Spin Dash, but dont release until Sonic says "Ready, GO!" Sonic will dash into, and collect the nearest gold rings. If you see a long trail of rings, you can use this move to cross long gaps. When Sonic gets the Light Speed Bracelet, the amount of time needed to charge up for a dash will be decreased.

Light Speed Attack: Once you get the Ancient Light (found near Red Mountain), you will be able to use the Light Speed Dash to destroy enemies.

    Tails' Adventure

Tails game is much shorter (and easier) than Sonics, but that doesnt make it any less fun. Tails first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Genesis/Mega Drive, and has been a staple in most Sonic games since. Tails Adventure is the story of him coming out of Sonics shadow. His Adventure takes him to many of the same stages as Sonic, most of which he is racing Sonic. Only at the end will Tails strike out on his own as he races Eggman. Tails also gets two different upgrades, which are the Rhythm Badge and the Jet Anklet.

    Tails Action Stages are:

    • Windy Valley
    • Casinopolis
    • Ice Cap
    • Sky Deck
    • Speed Highway

    Windy Valley

His Adventure starts out with Sonic rescuing him after the plane crash. After that, take the train to Mystic Ruin, and fight Egg Hornet as Sonic did before. Once again when Eggman is defeated take the green key to Windy Valley and enter the level.

    Windy Valley Objectives:

C: Beat Sonic to the end.

B: Beat Sonic to the end while collecting at least 50 rings.

A: Beat and even faster Sonic to the end.

    Windy Valley Shortcuts:

In order to defeat the faster Sonic, you will need to use all the shortcuts in the level, which are very easy to spot. You will see large green rings floating in the air, if you fly through those, you will be launched forward at high speed. There are multiple paths of these rings in this level, and if you use each one Sonic can be easily defeated.

    Casinopolis

When you clear Windy Valley, head back to Station Square and enter Casinopolis by flying up to the button.

    Casinopolis Objectives:

C: Race Sonic to the end.

B: Collect 50 rings and defeat Sonic in the race.

A: Defeat an even faster Sonic to the end.

    Casinopolis Shortcut:

The only real trick to beating Sonic in the final race of Casinopolis is to get Tails Jet Anklet upgrade. In Station Square, go near the Twinkle Park entrance and jump into the small pool of water. Walk into the tunnel and fly up into the room to get the upgrade. Once you have that, simply fly as much as possible in Casinopolis in order to beat the faster Sonic.

    Ice Cap

Once again, the ice key will appear upon completing Casinopolis. Take it to Mystic Ruins and enter Ice Cap.

    Ice Cap Objectives:

    C: Beat Sonic.

B: Beat Sonic with at least 50 rings.

    A: Beat the faster Sonic.

    Ice Cap Shortcut:

Tails version of Ice Cap is solely the snowboarding portion of the level. The same strategy used with Sonic applied here.

    Sky Deck

After Ice Cap, Tails will repeat Sonics battles with both Knuckles and Chaos 4. Then, you will play through Sky Chase Act 1, again. Then, go to the pyramid area of Mystic Ruins and find the small tunnel. Fly up and step on the switch to enter the mini-game, Sand Hill. This is simply a different version of the snowboarding stage of Ice Cap, with Tails boarding down sand instead of snow.

Following Sand Hill, you will be in the Tikal area. Head to your left to find the Rhythm Badge that will allow you to do infinite spins. Then, go to the front of the temple to speak with Tikal. When you are done with that, return to Tails Workshop to play Sky Chase Act 2, again.

As with Sonic, when you complete Sky Chase Act 2, you will land on Egg Carrier where you will gain access to Sky Deck.

    Sky Deck Objectives:

    C: Beat Sonic.

B: Beat Sonic with at least 50 rings.

    A: Beat the faster Sonic.

    Sky Deck Shortcuts:

This level has so many shortcuts it is a breeze. Remember the acceleration rings? Well, there are plenty of those in this level, and if you take advantage of them, beating Sonic will be very easy.

    Speed Highway

Again, as in Sonics trip through the game, Tails will need to defeat E-102 Gamma. When he does that, he will once again be in Station Square. Follow Eggman into Speed Highway to start the final level.

    Speed Highway Objectives

C: Beat Eggman to the Rocket

B: Beat Eggman to the Rocket with at least 50 Rings

A: Beat and even faster Eggman

    Speed Highway Shortcuts:

As with Sky Deck, the acceleration rings are the keys to success here. Hit all of them and fly as much as possible and you will do fine.

When that is done, Tails will have one final task to complete, and that is to defeat Eggman one last time. The mean man comes after Tails in the Egg Walker. To defeat him wait until the discs on the ankles flash, then spin into them. Repeat until the robot is defeated and you will have completed this adventure!

    Tails Moves:

Propeller Flight: When jumping, pressing A again will activate Tails Propeller Flight. It only lasts a short time, but it can save your life.

Tails Attack: By pressing X (or B) when standing still or walking, Tails will spin around to destroy nearby enemies.

    Moves using the Special Items:

Rapid Tails Attack: When you find the Rhythm Badge (found in the Tikal adventure field when Tails is taken there), you can do the Tails Attack indefinitely by holding down the appropriate button.

    Knuckles' Adventure

Knuckles has a slightly different adventure than Sonic or Tails. Kuckles first appeared in Sonic 3 on the Genesis/Mega Drive, appeared in Sonic and Knuckles, and then starred in the little known 32X game Knuckles Chaotix. His levels are free roaming compared to the previous two adventures that were pretty much on a path. The goal of each level is to find three emerald shards. Knuckles finds two upgrades such as the Shovel Claw and the Fighting Gloves. He also fights a form of Chaos that no one else does (Chaos 2).

    Knuckles Action Stages:

    • Speed Highway
    • Casinopolis
    • Red Mountain
    • Lost World
    • Sky Deck

    Speed Highway

The first level that Knuckles must complete is Speed Highway, although it takes place in the city part of the level and not the highway part. To get to the level, go to the area of Station Square where Sonic exits Speed Highway. When you punch through the boards you will gain access to the level.

    Speed Highway Objectives:

C: Find the 3 emeralds using the Hot/Cold radar method. When the beacon is flashing red, you are close, when it is blue you are not.

B: Find all the emeralds without using any hint balls.

A: Find all the emeralds in 1 minute.

    Emeralds Cheat:

Since the emeralds spawn in random locations every time you enter the level, there is a little trick you can do in order to get all the emeralds in less than a minute. This trick will cost you lives so it is best to do this in the "Trial" mode once you complete the level one time in the adventure.

This cheat requires you to use the pause menu to restart the level, but you must be absolutely sure not the exit the level as the emerald locations will then be randomly scattered again. First, locate the first emerald taking as much time as you need. When you find it, do not collect it, but rather restart the level and run directly to it. Repeat that same trick for the second and third emeralds. This will cost you three lives, but you will get the third emblem easily this way.

    Casinopolis

When you complete Speed Highway, run to the Casino area, and climb up the sign across from the Casino. From there glide over to the button to enter Casinopolis.

    Casinopolis Objectives:

C: Find the 3 emeralds using the Hot/Cold radar method. When the beacon is flashing red, you are close, when it is blue you are not.

B: Find all the emeralds without using any hint balls.

A: Find all the emeralds in 1 minute.

Repeat that same trick for the second and third emeralds. This will cost you three lives, but you will get the third emblem easily this way.

    Red Mountain

After the Casino, Knuckles will be taken to the Tikal area, run to the center area for a cutscene. When you return to Station Square, follow Eggman up the elevator in the hotel to battle Chaos 2. To defeat this form of Chaos avoid him until he takes a humanoid form, then jump on his head. Repeat to win.

Once that is over, go to Mystic Ruins and find the cave near Tails Workshop. Inside is the Shovel Claw upgrade that allows you to dig underground. Dig in the small round platform to find the monkey-killing bomb. Place it near the monkey in the cage to destroy it and open the grate. Head over to the Red Mountain area with the bomb and destroy the cage to access the level.

    Red Mountain Objectives:

C: Find the 3 emeralds using the Hot/Cold radar method. When the beacon is flashing red, you are close, when it is blue you are not.

B: Find all the emeralds without using any hint balls.

A: Find all the emeralds in 1 minute.

Repeat that same trick for the second and third emeralds. This will cost you three lives, but you will get the third emblem easily this way.

    Lost World

Just as Sonic and Tails have done, head to the lake area of Mystic Ruins. This time Knuckles battles Sonic, followed once again by Chaos 4. Head to the pyramid area of Mystic Ruins and run to Big the Catshouse. Climb to the top and glide to the ledge in order to glide to the Fighting Gloves upgrade.

In order to access Lost World, you need to find two keys. The first one is right next to the mine cart. The other is a little trickier to find. There is a corridor of tress with no path. Follow that to another mound that you can dig in, and you will find the second key.

    Lost World Objectives:

C: Find the 3 emeralds using the Hot/Cold radar method. When the beacon is flashing red, you are close, when it is blue you are not.

B: Find all the emeralds without using any hint balls.

A: Find all the emeralds in 1 minute.

    Sky Deck

After that level, and the cinemas Knuckles ends up back on egg carrier. Find the empty swimming pool and enter the doorway to get to Sky Deck.

    Sky Deck Objectives:

C: Find the 3 emeralds using the Hot/Cold radar method. When the beacon is flashing red, you are close, when it is blue you are not.

B: Find all the emeralds without using any hint balls.

A: Find all the emeralds in 1 minute.

When you complete Sky Deck, run to the green lit area to fight Chaos 6. Use the exact same tactic as Sonic to defeat him and end this part of the Adventure.

    Knuckles' Moves:

Punch Attack: Press X (or B) to perform a punch. If you punch twice quickly, he will do a dashing punch.

Gliding Jump: If you press and hold A in mid-air Knuckles will glide. Releasing A will cause him to fall.

    Moves using the Special Items:

Digging: The Shovel Claw item (found in the small cave near Tails workshop), you will be able to dig in soft dirt by pressing X and A at the same time.

     Amy's Adventure

Amys romp through the world of Sonic Adventure is by far the shortest of the gang, as she only has three Action Stages. Amys first appearance in the Sonic mythos was in the Sega CD/Mega CD game Sonic CD. Throughout her adventure she finds one upgrade, the Warrior Feather. That upgrade allows her to swing her hammer in a circle. The goal of each of her Action Stages is to find the balloon and escape Zero.

    Amys Action Stages:

    • Twinkle Park
    • Hot Shelter
    • Final Egg

    Twinkle Park

Amy begins her Adventure in Station Square, maybe because that is where Sonic first meets her. To get to Twinkle Park you need to follow the same patter Sonic did. First go to the Casino area to meet Sonic, then go to Twinkle Park.

    Twinkle Park Objectives:

    C: Get to the Balloon.

B: Reach the Balloon with at least 50 rings.

A: Beat the time limit to the Balloon.

    Twinkle Park Shortcuts.

The key to completing Twinkle Park, or any of Amys levels, is to make sure you are always in a full sprint. A quick way to do that is to do an attack while you are in mid-air. When you land, you will be in a full sprint, and if you do an attack while in that sprint you will be catapulted high into the air. That is a perfect move to get up steps and other obstacles easily

    Hot Shelter

After Amy completes that level, a series of cinemas will play out. She will then find herself on the egg carrier. When you find a room that looks like a whack-a-mole game, that is exactly what it is. Just whack all the Sonic characters, but avoid hitting the Eggman to get the high score and win. In the large room with three doors, the middle one leads to Hot Shelter.

    Hot Shelter Objectives:

    C: Get to the Balloon.

B: Reach the Balloon with at least 50 rings.

A: Beat the time limit to the Balloon.

    Hot Shelter Shortcuts.

Again, make sure you are always in a full sprint. The quick way to do that is to do an attack while you are in mid-air. When you land, you will be in a full sprint, and if you do an attack while in that sprint you will be catapulted high into the air. That is a perfect move to get up steps and other obstacles easily.

    Final Egg

When Amy appears in the Tikal area, go to the shrine for a short cut scene. Soon, she will be back in Mystic Ruins where you need to enter Final Egg the same way Sonic did.

    Final Egg Objectives:

    C: Get to the Balloon.

B: Reach the Balloon with at least 50 rings.

A: Beat the time limit to the Balloon.

    Final Egg Shortcuts.

Again, make sure you are always in a full sprint. The quick way to do that is to do an attack while you are in mid-air. When you land, you will be in a full sprint, and if you do an attack while in that sprint you will be catapulted high into the air. That is a perfect move to get up steps and other obstacles easily.

After Final Egg, go to the train station in Mystic Ruins. Go down the ladder to the final boss fight of Amys Adventure.

To defeat Zero, hit him with your hammer when his head opens up. You need to knock him into the lightning fence repeatedly until he is dead.

    Amys Moves:

Hammer Attack: If you press X (or B) Amy will attack an enemy with her hammer.

Hammer Jump: If you use the attack button while in a full run, you will be able to do a super jump.

    Moves using the Special Items:

Spin Hammer Attack: Hold the attack button, then move the control stick in a 360° motion. Release the button or the stick to end the attack. If you spin to long, Amy will become dizzy and not be able to walk straight.

    Big the Cat's Adventure

Bigs Adventure represents the new staple for character-driven console games the fishing mini-game! In each level Big must go fishing to locate his little frog friend. Big is the first of the two new characters in the game. He is a large, slow purple cat who lost his frog friend. He visits some of the same levels as Sonic, as well as finding four lure upgrades, a Power Rod, and an Inner Tube.

    Bigs Action Stages:

    • Twinkle Park
    • Ice Cap
    • Emerald Coast
    • Hot Shelter

    Twinkle Park

Big starts out in his "house" that is located in Mystic Ruins. Right at the start you can find the first upgrade under his bed. It is the Power Rod, which gives you longer casting distance. That will make it easier to get the emblems in his action stages. Also, in this area is a Lure Upgrade, but youll need to get that later.

When you get to Station Square, jump into the pool of water behind Twinkle Park to find a Lure Upgrade. Then, go to the manhole where Sonic got his shoes to enter Twinkle Park.

    Twinkle Park Objectives:

    C: Catch Froggy

B: Catch a fish larger than 1500lbs and Froggy.

A: Catch a fish larger than 200lbs and Froggy.

    Ice Cap

For Big to enter Ice Cap, he must also use the Ice Key. Before you enter the stage, the Life Belt will be underwater. This will allow you to float on top of the water.

Also, inside the stage is a Lure Upgrade.

    Ice Cap Objectives:

    C: Catch Froggy

B: Catch a fish larger than 1500lbs and Froggy.

A: Catch a fish larger than 200lbs and Froggy.

    Emerald Coast

Emerald Coast is one of the best looking of Bigs levels. There is one area in here that is hidden, but you can catch a shark that weighs between 1700 and 2000lbs! To get there find the large rock pillar, and at the bottom is a tunnel. Follow that into a large round room.

    Emerald Coast Objectives:

    C: Catch Froggy

B: Catch a fish larger than 1500lbs and Froggy.

A: Catch a fish larger than 200lbs and Froggy.

    Hot Shelter

In Hot Shelter, there are quite a few sharks so getting all three emblems shouldnt be too tough.

    C: Catch Froggy

B: Catch a fish larger than 1500lbs and Froggy.

A: Catch a fish larger than 200lbs and Froggy.

After the level is complete, Big will actually have to face Chaos 6. To defeat him just continually cast at Froggy.

    E-102 Gamma's Adventure

E-102 Gamma is the second newcomer to the Sonic series. He is an evil robot serving Eggman, who rebels and joins the light side. E-102s adventure isnt very long, and its pretty straightforward and simple. Basically in all the levels, just run around and shoot everything that you can see. E-102 also finds the Jet Booster, and Laser Blaster upgrades.

    E-102 Gammas Action Stages:

    • Final Egg
    • Emerald Coast
    • Windy Valley
    • Red Mountain
    • Hot Shelter

    Final Egg

Final Egg is extremely easy, simply run along to the end to the Sonic doll. The only tough part can be getting the 50 rings for the second emblem. Before the checkpoint if you turn around there is a platform that you can glide to (once you get the upgrade to hover), where there are some rings. Also, right near the Sonic doll is a spring to launch you up to a platform for even more rings.

    Final Egg Objectives:

    C: Destroy the Sonic doll.

B: Destroy the Sonic doll with at least 50 rings.

A: Destroy the Sonic doll in over the specified time.

    Final Egg Strategy:

As with the level in general, getting the A emblem is very easy. Just shoot all the targets.

    Emerald Coast

After Final Egg, you will be tested by having to fight E-101 Beta. Just shoot him to end the battle, and afterwards you will arrive in Station Square. Head to the Emerald Coast area and shoot down the barricade to enter.

    Emerald Cost Objectives:

    C: Find Froggy.

B: Collect at least 50 rings and find Froggy.

A: Find Froggy is over the specified time.

    Emerald Coast Strategy:

There are plenty of rings in the level, so getting 50 is no problem. Toward the end, you can jump up on the platform where Froggy is without having to follow the path around. That will shave some time off your score.

    Windy Valley

When you complete Emerald Coast there will be a series of cut-scenes after which you will be able to get the Jet Booster in Egg Carrier. After that, E-102 will need to fight Sonic (where before you controlled Sonic battling E-102). When the battle is over, you can find the Laser Blaster in Egg Carrier before continuing on.

Again, us the Wind Stone at Tails Workshop to unlock the entrance to Windy Valley.

    Windy Valley Objectives:

    C: Defeat E-103 Delta

B: Defeat E-103 Delta with 50 or more rings.

A: Defeat E-103 Delta within the correct time period.

    Windy Valley Strategy:

The long caterpillar-like enemies can net you a large sum of time points. Each section can be locked on as an enemy, thus giving you massive time if you lock onto the whole thing. Those would be the best source of time for you in this level as they can count as up to ten enemies.

As for E-103 Delta, he is easy to defeat (as are all the robots) simply target him and shoot.

    Red Mountain

After Windy Valley, head to the Red Mountain area of Mystic Ruins. To get into Red Mountain is easy for E-102. Simply shoot the monkey to open the gate.

    Red Mountain Objectives:

    C: Defeat E-104 Epsilon

B: Defeat E-104 Epsilon with 50 or more rings.

A: Defeat E-104 Epsilon within the correct time period.

    Red Mountain Strategy:

The same tricks that you used in the previous levels can be applied here. Just shoot every enemy you see. Toward the beginning are quite a few flying enemies and evil monkeys to blow up. Again, the more you lock onto, the more time you will receive.

At the end of the level, E-104 Epsilon will be waiting for you. This robot will try to throw a little more offense at you, but he is once again easily defeated.

    Hot Shelter

When you complete Red Mountain, head to the pyramid area of Mystic Ruins and go to the Egg Carrier crash site.

    Hot Shelter Objectives:

    C: Defeat E-105 Zeta

B: Defeat E-105 Zeta with 50 or more rings.

A: Defeat E-105 Zeta within the correct time period.

    Hot Shelter Strategy:

This is one of the only levels that can actually be pretty tough for E-102. The level is pretty long, which means you really need to get most, if not all, of the enemies in the level.

When you get to the train part, you dont have to wait for the train to stop moving in order to jump to the next car. Also, there are a lot of little monkeys on the train that you can blast for some time.

E-105 Zeta is different than the other robots. To defeat him, you need to destroy the cannons around his "head". Just lock onto all of them and fire.

When Zeta is defeated, you will have completed Hot Shelter. To get to the final battle, head to the large green area where the other characters fought Chaos 6. There, E-102 will immediately start the final fight with E-101 mk II.

E-101 mk II can be rather difficult, but his pattern is easy to learn. When he fires missiles at you, and lock onto them and destroy them. Then dodge out of the way when he flies at you, and then shoot him in the back. Repeat that pattern (while dodging his laser blasts) and he will be defeated. When that is done, you will have completed E-102 Gammas adventure, but not the game!

    E-102 Gammas Moves:

Laser Gun: Press and hold X (or B) to lock on to an enemy. Then release the button to fire a homing missile at it.

    Moves using the Special Items:

Hovering: When E-102 Gamma finds the Jet Booster (in the Egg Carrier), you can hold A to hover.

    Super Sonic

After E-102s adventure is complete, a gold "?" will appear in the character select screen. Choose that to play Super Sonics short adventure and see the true ending of the game.

There will be a long series of cut-scenes and then you will gain control of Sonic. Run over to the floating island near Red Mountain to find Eggman lying on the ground. After another cut-scene Sonic will be warped to Tikal once again. Here you will see many short cut-scenes where you will need to move Sonic closer to the shrine between each scene. Afterwards, Sonic will be transported back to Mystic Ruins where you will need to go to the pyramid area.

Immediately after entering the area Sonic and Tails will find the emerald that they are looking for but Chaos will come and steal it. When he does that, Chaos becomes Perfect Chaos and decides to destroy Station Square, killing millions of people for no purpose other than giving us (the players) a very cool setting for the final battle.

Now comes what is probably one of the coolest end battles in modern video game history. This climatic duel ranks right up there with the final battle with Ganon in The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time on the N64. All five other characters will bring Chaos emeralds to Sonic. With the power of the emeralds coupled with the chants from the crowd, Sonic becomes Super Sonic! Now he is prepared to do battle with Perfect Chaos.

Super Sonics power comes from both the Chaos Emeralds and the gold rings, so you need to make sure that he always has rings by picking them up on your trip to Perfect Chaos. The first form of Perfect Chaos is pretty easy. His attacks are simple and easy to avoid. Just be sure to dodge them and gather as many rings as possible. To defeat him, fly towards him at high speed, and just run into him. If you are going fast enough, Sonic will fly up to his head and damage him. If Sonic gets hit, he will not loose rings, but he will slow down making the attack on Chaos difficult.

After Sonic defeats the first form of Perfect Chaos, he will return even stronger. He is defeated the same exact way as before, but he will throw much more at you on your path to his defeat. Move quickly to dodge the blasts and giant laser, and continue to grab the rings and he will be defeated in no time.

    Chao

There is a smaller part of the Sonic Adventure where you get to raise (and race) the too-cute-to-exist Chao creatures. Throughout the game there are three Chao gardens where you can find eggs, as well as special colored eggs scattered in the Adventure Fields. You can also download your Chao to your VMU and continue to train him. The locations of the gardens and eggs are:

    • Station Square hotel (Chao Garden)
    • Station Square store (Gold Egg)
    • Mystic Ruins (Chao Garden)
    • Mystic Ruins (Silver Egg)
    • Egg Carrier (Chao Garden)
    • Egg Carrier (Black Egg)

Of course the default Chao wont do too well in a race, so you need to take special care of it to improve its abilities. One way to do this is to combine it with the little animals that you collect when you defeat an enemy in an Action Stage. Different animals affect different stats as shown below:

    • Flying (Animals on a Purple background) is affected by: Parrots, Swallows, and Peacocks.
    • Swimming (Animals on a Yellow background) is affected by: Seals, Otters, and Penguins.
    • Power/Strength (Animals on a Red background) is affected by: Lions, Elephants, and Gorillas.
    • Running (Animals on a Green background) is affected by: Deer, Kangaroos, and Rabbits.
    • Animals the affect a random stat have a Blue background and include: Moles, Skunks, and Koalas.

The more of a certain animal you give the Chao, the more the stat will be increased.

Once you get your Chao pumped up and ready to race, you can get to the races via the Station Square garden. A gem classifies each different race:

    • Pearl Course: Ball Pushing race that uses both Power/Strength and some Running.
    • Amethyst Course: Basic Foot Race that uses mostly Running, but there is an alternate path that needs Swimming and Flying so keep those in mind.
    • Sapphire Course: Super Foot Race that uses every skill.
    • Ruby Course: Swimming Race
